In the dreary corner of a grand-ballroom,
there I stood some time ago,
there,
where the music played joyously and the couples danced gaily.
I was standing,
not watching,
not listening,
but mulling.
Mulling over my life that suddenly came into an intersection,
this is the point where decision needs to be made.
I was standing in your life right now,
this was yours, not mine, but now that I am here,
it had became partly mine, too.
But not absolutely mine,
because my real life was standing just ten feet on my left.
You were dancing with someone whose name I never got the chance to know. You were happy, I could tell.
I’ve loved you and I still do,
I’ve wanted you and I still do,
but your life isn’t mine and I knew I wouldn’t fit in.
You were lost in your own world of luxury,
forgetting me who stood helplessly on the fragile edge of your life, waiting for you.
I saw the unknown lady whispered into your ears and you laughed brightly,
so bright was it that it almost blinded me, but it didn’t, in fact, it helped me see better.
So, I turned ’round and walked toward my life, the life of the dreamers, not the dreams.
I’ve made my choice and I told you i’d go,
you smiled and watched me walked away with the man of my real life.

This was incredibly touchy..true,heartfelt..i almost felt her standing there in the ballroom..watching him 10 feet away from her real life.

i think if the speaker had it the speaker’s way things would’ve been different.
“Mulling over my life that suddenly came into an intersection,

How often I too have been at the intersection.
